the lifetime on any ipod is relatively short if you don't baby it. in my opinion however, they're still the best you can get.

my mini has taken so much shit and still runs it's unbelievable. whereas sushi has destroyed a mini simply by dropping it on the ground, and a nano by running it through the wash.
that's all i can tell you from my experiences.
