Re: Scheduled Downtime - Mon, May 19th
I do not like how the front page is for some contest no one cares about.
I don't know what I want, but a once-a-month update to the front page makes the site nothing but tutorials no one looks at anymore, and forums no one but a select few use anymore.
In the future, what can we expect to actually, you know, pull people into the site from just one glance? Since they're not likely to check the forums first, and the tutorials themselves aren't directly there in your face. It isn't just the content that's lacking from the site then, but rather a lack of presentation. Sure, you're spiffing it all up with a new layout, but that driving force that just draws one into a site isn't there now.
Gametrailers had movies on it's front page. Deviantart has art from its users. NationalSigLeague has constantly updated news about its site and what's happening. Not just some lame shoutout about some downtime that will only affect maybe the three users who are active at that time.
See where your main group of consistently posting forum users came from. They came in groups, or as friends. Very few were attracted uniquely on their own, or stayed as such. See where they came from, and how they were attracted there. See the differences between those areas, and how you can use positives to pull this place together.
I think this issue needs to be addressed.
But I'm just rambling and typed that up within two minutes. I talk eloquently out of my ass.
