Re: Scheduled Downtime - Mon, May 19th
google drops your rank for duplicate content... so borrowing tutorials isn't really a good idea for organic traffic. Link backs are great for traffic, for getting your site noticed, and for getting better ranks in search engines. But a great way to earn link backs is to write quality content, or to be guest writers for other sites. Meaning, to create an article and sound like an expert at it, and have it published elsewhere. Usually the content publisher will allow a link back to the article creator's site, which helps establish the site.
We do have traffic, although it has dropped from ~2 years ago, it is still relatively strong considering the lack of new content (besides the forums), since that time.
And traffic is up from jan when we switched to the new ver. Loosing lots of indexed content and some links broke during the process.
A new publishing system will address these issues. Better front page content, better layout, more organized sitemap, and hopefully a better community feel, with a comment system and maybe more.
