Re: Ready to be printed(question mark)

its interesting but I don't like the fonts at all.

In my opinion, you should stick to one font on a piece, and play with the front properties to add some variant to the text to make certain words stand out more.

And i'm not sure what kind of printer you are using or what not, but the size doesn't seem very standard. Is this a poster or what?

Re: Ready to be printed(question mark)

i think it's unjustifiably tall considering the small amount of information it contains--and the lack of artwork.

also--i've heard a rule of thumb is not to use more than 3 fonts per poster--maximum. and those guidelines usually include of normal looking font or two... it looks as though you've got 10? and they're all obnoxious and busy. just because you've downloaded the font doesn't mean you should use it.

if it were my piece, i would make it regular printer paper size--unless this is supposed to be a brochure--because this piece isn't cost-effective at all. and i would arrange the lettering in a much more attractive fashion, and cut down the variety of fonts considerably.

Re: Ready to be printed(question mark)

thanks for the feedback guys. I have a print shop about 20 mins away that are good at doing these type of custom jobs. it will hopefully print out with like normal paper size but x300% on the vertical length-wise.
I was actually just going to spray the info, take a picture of it, and then use that (which would most definately be better) but did not have to much time, and was not given (time, street address, ect) i mean appearantly this is not going to be the biggest show in the world, but I believe if we get at least like 10-20 prints of these, we can go slapp them on some places downtown, and in the different sections of knoxville. It was all out of sincerety, and then my buddy gave me 20 to get the prints out, so I guess this was an experiment, that may be (bad). we will see. :P
thanks for the advice though, and I will definately take it to heart on the next poster i do

Agreed.

Sorry Luz, but it's just not too presentable.

You have to be straight to the point with the information while still keeping it nice to look at.

This kinda looks like you clone tooled all over the place and plopped on text. :[

Re: Ready to be printed(question mark)

On a slight side note, The size wouldn't be an issue if the actual focus on the poster were to span the height. Meaning, you had some object or character which was as tall as the poster. This would justify the size and make it more interesting. The repeating background thing just doesn't work here.

In fact, this poster, in its entirety, is almost an exact representation of what you should not do when designing a poster.

No offense.

Re: Ready to be printed(question mark)

It's just too large and complex. Keep it simple, the idea of advertisement is to be visual pleasing, easily remember, and to share qualities with what is being advertised. It would definitely turn me away from going to the event. Not to mention I find it fairly ugly. The font spacing and choice kills me.

Re: Ready to be printed(question mark)

its SLURM!!!

nah i dunno, that piece is pretty old and i was just showing off some text approaches that I would do to a poster, not necessarily the piece itself.

Re: Ready to be printed(question mark)

yea, I agree too upon the fact of not liking the poster (mine). The people who played that night liked it, so I suppose, in the end, that's all that counts
