Foobar, Itunes, MediaMonkey

all three i have.

Foobar im currently using because i like its simplicity. Mediamonkey is not even in use atm because the library is so douched up i just dont want to touch it because its so much work to delete duplicate tracks (that arent duplicate in the folder, just in the fucking library) and renaming tracks that mediamonkey somehow fucked up.

I got MM because itunes wouldnt upload certain songs or albums to its library, for whatever reason.

Foobar does, though so i use this one atm.

Id like to use my itunes, but is there a way to make it automatically NOT duplicate files so i can just have it scan my comp for ones not in its library rather than having it double and even triple up if i have it rescan an older folder that has newer music in it?

What about taking music from my ipod and putting it in my library. Its obnoxious that itunes doesnt do this.

mehmet is prolly thinking of "yamipod"

make sure your iTunes doesn't have the option "Duplicate Music" or w/e on. that might be your problem...

iTunes -> Preferences -> General -> (uncheck appropriate boxes)

Re: Foobar, Itunes, MediaMonkey

Dunno if you already fixed the problem, but if you go to Itunes(v8)>>Edit>>Prefences.. then advanced it'll have a option named "Copy files into Itunes Music folder when adding to library" just untick that and it should stop making duplicates. =]

I use Itunes just for my ipod. I use KMPlayer as my default player and WMP as my video player. seems to work weel enoug h
I'm gnna have a crack at this Foobar thingoo..

Re: Foobar, Itunes, MediaMonkey

"Choose File > Library > Consolidate Library.

Files remain in their original locations, and copies are placed in the iTunes folder.

For best results, don’t change the location of the iTunes folder or the folders inside it.
...

Here are ways to locate your iTunes files:

To find out where a file is stored, select the item in iTunes and then choose File > Get Info. The path to the file is shown at the bottom of the Summary pane (the Where section).

To reveal the file in the Finder, select the item in iTunes and choose File > Show in Finder."
