Re: my latest

Ditch the tech border, tweak the text and lose the render.

Background is awesome though.

Make the text like a... Arial or Arial Black, or just don't add text at all. :]

Re: my latest

Yeah the render ruins it, I think the border is too big, just make it thinner, otherwise, pretty cool.

Thanks! Well, the border should be as is. I like it that way. But I will lose or change the render, wasn't feeling good when adding it anyway.

Ditch the border.

Verdana with a -100 horizontal > Arial.

Re: my latest

tech borders sucked when they were trendy and they suck now. although, if you like them then of course just keep using them.

and i guess as the others have already said, the text and the render could use some work. for the render though, dont just completely remove it, as i think it looks pretty good there, adds some balance to the sig, so just find a diffrent image. text actually isnt bad cause its not to noticable, although a diffrent font realy could make it better.

as for the backround, really nice. great colours, and great shapes and things, just a shame we cant see more of it.

Re: my latest

I had several version to put up, but I decided to use the one with tech border. Personally I don't like most tech borders, too, but in a few cases they can be very helpful by manipulating the eye - like in this case.

The border is held dark, black and grey metal, which gives a hard contrast to the shaped background. This produces some sort of window look which is unfortunately a little disturbed by the render.

Is it generally tec borders you don't like or this border itself? May I ask why?

Re: my latest

Tech borders are a sign of being a n00b at Photoshop. They are something you can find in any basic tutorial. They were a fad a while ago, but now they are just something that newbies do. They are huge, they take away from the actual signature work by being clunky, usually don't even fit the sig (as in this case), and finally, are so amazingly simple to accomplish. ANYONE can make a tech border. No creativity is involved. No matter how much work you put into it, it's next to impossible to utilize it in a professional looking sig, because it is so shitty.

The End.

Websites are not signatures.

Re: my latest

Disagree. What you guys say would be drawing technism = n00bism, even if its good tech or just a part of a whole?

Arrogance?

This without comment.

I will remove the dark border, but leave the lighter left border. Removing all borders will make the original concept not work no more.
Altough I still disagree a little I think you are basically right there. Thanks for this. I like tech so much I may have lost my good view here.

Pay no reguard to the insults thats how we show our love.

Tech borders work for tech sigs and the hight on your sig being so low and wide really takes it away from your sig once you apply the tech border, make it taller and thinner like how my sig size is. The background is really to good to cover over with tech though, I'd suggest adding a DS chunk border (and be cheap like me xD) then blend in some text and leave it like that.

But if you are gonna use tech borders make sure it dosen't overpower the bg image unless the bg is shit which in this case is not shit.

Re: my latest

If you're gonna disagree, you damn well better give reasons why. if you're gonna use empty insults, at least fill em up with proof. It's true that tech borders generally suck, and are not used right. Case in point, this sig. It's an ok tech border by itself, but contrasting off fire, and bright areas, it's just ugly.

No need to be defending your sig so much. Truth be told, it's rather ugly. Notice how the only part people have positively commented on is the fire parts? Ok.

And don't pay attention to insults. It's just how I roll.

P.S.- Listen to Vicous. I agree 100%.

Re: my latest

insults? Where.

All I wrote was going against the "tech border always suck" and the "tech = n00b" talking. Read more carefully.
