i think it's an unspoken rule of sig-making...that you incorporate at least one thing in your piece that you didn't make yourself.

:edit: it looks nice though. but i agree with bit, it'd be a lot hotter had you drawn the render yourself.

derek hess' work is buggering hard to draw - I did my A-level art with him as my chosen artist, I'd show you the pics but I rele can't be bothered right now...

Should probably stay on topic... uhh the sig sucks compared to what you can do, I remember you saying you were have a blank period so I'm just gonnna put it to that...

the style doesn't look to hard, just try drawing with a continuous line and stay sketchy and you should be someone there.

derek hess isn't hard to draw really, you just have to distort the anatomy with the lines as if it were just a rough sketch or something, it sure does take a long time though.

the sig: work on your composition man, it would probably look better if you cropped it. I like the effects though

I love it when people talk like they actually know what they're talking about ^ ^.

How many of you have actually tried drawing in Derek Hess' style? If any of you have and it looks like that please do show me because when I was doing it for my project it would take me a damn long time to draw something that didn't look like that at all (obviously I did have to draw it with my own flair but still). Yes Derek's work looks easy but it bloody well isn't, also you'll find that all the figures are anatomically correct, they just look distorted because they are very toned - again this isn't easy to achieve. I may show you my attempts at some point to show what I managed to achieve.

the second is more the type I was talking about, the first one I can do relatively quickly but it can take a couple of attempts to get everything in proportion first time (I don't use pencils to sketch proportions I straight out draw them with a pen). I'll show you the sketch ones at some point, I need to sort out my host...

people of his caliber are usually too cocky to give away their art techniques, so it's naturally just an art book. it shows his work, but also all of his influences and it's pretty interesting how he developed his style over taim.
