weekly art

sorta like sotw, I think we should do a "weekly art" thing where we post a theme, and then everyone does a piece on it. After everyone turns in their pieces, then there will be a poll, and the winner gets to pick next weeks theme. On this idea, there isnt a "type of art" you have to do, but like say the theme is "batman", then whomever participates can choose whatever style they want to do batman in. And I don't think we should let this one burn in hell, like the wotm did.... unless ppl just dont like this idea.

I think its a good idea. but we need more active members to keep it going. When there are roughly 25 active members lets say... I would say 10-20% would participate each week... thats 3 people max. I think that it was seen in the sig of the week as well, becuase over time there were less and less entries.

everytime we try and do something its always "we dont have enough people", why can't we just do it anyways. I mean we dont have that many active members.. but I bet there are atleast a few that would do it.

Haha, I would participate even if it looks like crap. Maybe we should make it so it's a contest to see who gets the next link in the VDChain?

That way we don't have like a bunch (VDChain, SOTW, AOTW) of abandoned projects going on.

I really like this idea, I would certainly particpate.

to be honest w/ you, the reason me and sushi joined this site back in the day was for SOTW...granted, that phase didn't last long. but it's the reason i started here. i think the idea is, that as long as we aren't just flaming sig-makers, and speaking the "haxx0r" language(sorry if i slaughtered that??--wait, no...i'm not...

), we might get a few new members, and maybe have some fun while we're at it?

This isnt in the void guys, keep the posts on topic.

As far as the weekly art topic goes. I would like to see it be done, I just dont feel I can manage it. That is another reason why SOTW failed, not only becuase i was getting tired of seeings sigs, but i just didnt want to do it anymore.

So if someone would want to organize this, I will make them moderator of the contest section. Your duties would be creating the threads and managing / keeping track of submissions.

See, even if this doesn't work, and everybody in this thread refused to participate, you'd still have one dead, useless thread floating around.

Now, even if it works, you'll have two useless threads when the whole thing is over.

Just do the 'contest', and get it over with. Anyone that wants to participate will, and anyone who doesn't, won't. If it doesn't work, oh well. Big fucking deal. At least you tried.

We were looking for moderators. That's why he would ask people if they wanted to be moderators.

I think it's a good idea. I need some external stimuli for creativity, and would like to participate. I'd think that even if it "fails" (is it really a failure?) it might help attract new members. Not by direct means, but because there's some energy going on.

Did Sasuke volunteer for moderating this? I'm willing to take something like this onto my own shoulders, as I have a lot of free time. Just what does a moderator do?

Moderators generically police/supervise forums – but in this case (i’m assuming) the moderator(s) would be responsible for maintaining the weekly art section; seeing that a winner is chosen and making sure there is a new theme each week… etc
