Grids

Grid Tutorial

Sooo, you want to make a grid? well, I'll show you a way to make them.

First, open a transparent 5x5 document and zoom in on it to 1600%, like this;

Once that is done select one row of pixels on the bottom and on the right and fill them with w/e color you want, for this tutorial, im using white;

After you make an image that looks like that click Edit -> Define Pattern and save it as Grid;

Now you can close the 5x5 pixel image and open up the image you want to apply the grid to. I'll be using this for this tutorial

Once your image is open, create a new layer and take out the paint bucket tool, then from the top, change Fill to pattern and select your new Grid pattern;

Next, fill your new layer, should look somthing like this;

That dosn't look to good, to fix it lower the opacity of the layer to around 15-20, should look alot better now and your done, a simple grid, but you can do more with it like in my sig and fade the grid out heres how you do that.

OPTIONAL

Now take out your gradient tool and open the drop down menu at the top and pic the second gradient, the one that fades from white (or whatever your foreground color is) to transparent;

Now in the same box double click the gradient and not the drop down arrow to open the gradient editor;

From there follow the instructions on the above image, click the top left slider and change the opacity to 50-75%, then just experiment draging your gradient tool around to fade the grid out. Hope this helped!
