Saving in C4D Part 2

Opening Targa files in Photoshop

This is part 2 of saving in c4d tutorial.

VISIT PART 1

This tutorial will teach you how to open targa files in photoshop and manipulate the alpha channel so that you can get a clean cut render onto another .psd file.

Okay the first step of this tutorial is to open photoshop!!!!

Next, go to file > Open and select the file you made in c4d. This file has a targa extension (whatever.tga).

Now, you will see your render on your screen with a black background.

Now we need to select our render. Go to your layers pallet and click on Channels.

Now, under your color channels you will notice one named Alpha 1. This is the all important key of copying your renders into a new document.

Press Control + Click on the alpha channel. This will make a selection of your render.

Now click on the layers tab again. You will notice that the render has been selected and the black background has not.

Now the tricky part Go to Edit > Copy (control + c). You may now close your .targa file since it is no longer needed. Now open a .psd file you want by going to file > open.

You can now go to Edit > Paste (control + v). This will put your render in your new psd. With no background!

Congradulations you have succesfully transferred a render from c4d to photoshop! Now you may want to do some brushing if its an abstract, or some photoshop touch ups!
