3 Simple Borders
Border 1: See through
1.) after the rest of the sig is done click shift + ctrl +N to make a new layer (bring it to the top if its not already)
2.) click ctr + A to select all of the sig
3.) go to Edit > Stroke
set pixel to 3 and make the color black
4.) go to Edit > Stroke again
set pixels to 2 and make the color a bright yellow
5.) go to Edit > Stroke a third time
set pixels to 1 and make the color black
6.) now whip out the magic wand and zoom in a few times (ctr + +) (zoom out is ctr + -)
7.) click the yellow part of the border, and delete it... you should now have a border like this:

Border 2: Blended Border
this one is pretty similar to border 1, but this one actually has stuff in the middle of the border, just that it is blended in
1.) after the rest of the sig is done click shift + ctrl +N to make a new layer (bring it to the top if its not already)
2.) click ctr + A to select the whole sig
3.) go to Edit > Stroke and set the pixel to 2 and the color to white
4.) set the blending to soft light (you could experiment with whichever of these you like, but usually soft light works the best)
5.) go to Edit > Layer Style > Blending Options and choose bevel and emboss, make the style "inner bevel" and the technique "chisel hard"
optional: also make the stroke with these settings: 1 pixel, color black
Here is an example of this type of border:

* i didnt use bevel or stroke for this border
Border 3: Tech Border
1.) after the rest of the sig is done click shift + ctrl +N to make a new layer (bring it to the top if its not already)
2.) select the polygon lasso tool by holding on the lasso tool (under the rectangular marquee tool) and then choose polygon lasso

3.) start selecting cool designs around the edges, try not to over do it, but sometimes its fun to go wild, just do what you think will be right
usually just make shapes like these:

* i recommend not doing this whole border in one thing, just do it piece by piece
** make sure that you hold shift when you are selecting
*** you have to click with the poly lasso once, then hold shift
4.) go to Edit > Fill then fill it with "black"
5.) (dont worry if you dont really like the border yet)
then go to Layer > Layer Style > Blending Options
use these styles and the following properties for them (leave the rest of them as they are)
these are the styles and their opacity
Drop Shadow: 85
Inner Shadow: 52
Outer Glow: 11 and color is black
Inner Glow: 27 and color is white
Bevel and Emboss: just make everything look like this:

Satin: 29 (and the color black)
Color Overlay: 100 set to lighten if not already, and make the color the the main color you want the border to be
Stroke: Size is 1, opacity is 100, and color is black
6.) now that you have all the settings complete, zoom in (ctr +) and start deleting shapes inside the border using the rectangular marguee, elliptical marquee (hold rectangle), and polygon lasso
should look something like this:

7.) when you get something you like you can save it
(always save as a PSD and a JPEG, to PSD to re-edit in photoshop, JPEG to use on the forums)
my final piece:

i know its simple, but it was to help people that are just starting to learn photoshop
