Perspective Text with Reflection

Create a perspective text with a reflection to make and awsome text effect.

First, we have to open up the image we want to use to put our text onto. I am going to use a white background 500px BY 250 px image for simplicity, and so its easier to see what i'm doing.

Okay, now, we need to make our text. I simply used a font I found on www.dafont.com and inserted that into my c:\windows\fonts directory, and then opened that directory. This will install the font. Okay, now that you have your font, write some sweet looking text. I wrote VDCORE (promotional ).

Alright cool, now we need to distort this text in order to add perspective. So, to do this, we have to rasterize the layer. right click on your text layer, and go to rasterize layer.

Next we do the hard part. Getting the perspective the way we want it. Now, this is a little complicated so try and stick with me.

Go to Edit > Tranform > Distort. This will appear:

Now, Grab the top right corner, and pull it inward towards the left center. This will make it look like its at an angle. Press OKAY (the checkmark in the top bar).

It should look simliar to this:

Now go to Edit > Tranform > Distort. Grab the bottom left corner and pull it outward like this:

Okay so we have a cool angle for our text. Note that you can use any angle you want, but it will be difficult to add the reflection later.

So, now the reflection. Dupilcate your layer by pulling the text layer into the new layer button. If you dont know how to do this i'm not sure you should be trying this tutorial . Now on the new layer, go to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical. It should look similar to this:

Alright this is the all important step. Go to Edit > Free Transform. Now Rotate the text until the bottoms touch. This will make it more realistic. Note you may have to move the text around to get it to fit right.

Now, you can either be happy with the reflection you have here or try and make a floor that the text reflects off of. If you want to stop here, go to the last part of the tutorial where it asks you to make a selection.

If you want to make it reflect off the floor. Continue from here.

Okay, now go to Edit > Transform > Perspective and grab the bottom corner of the box created. Pull this corner way out to the right, this will make the bottom look larger than the bottom like this:

Next, you may need to rotate the text to make the bottoms of the 2 text parts align. This is crucial to make it look like a real reflection. So, go to Edit > Free Transform and rotate it slightly so the bottoms align like this:

Notice that the back doesnt line up correctly, so go to edit > free transform and pull the back corner out a little to make the scale slightly larger.

Now it looks good. Okay, next we will lower the opacity of the layer to about 75%.

Next grab the polygonal Lasso tool:

And make a selection going through half way of the reflection.

And last but not least, go to Select > Feather And type in 25 px in the box that appears.

Press Ok

Press delete on your keyboard 2 (two) times, and now your done!

I hope that you learned alot from this tutorial, I know my results look like crap, but the point was to teach a technique, not how to make your image exactly like mine. Thanks for folowing this tutorial and I hope that we can see you on our forums sometime soon!
