Make some basic tech

Ok, so you want to make tech? good. Lets start by opening up a blank document with a white background. Make a new layer and press "D" to reset your colors.

Step 1: grab your rectangular marquee tool, and make a slection on the bottom of the rectangle like so:

Press Delete.

Step 2: You want to make the same kind of cut again in different areas. Be random, but dont go overboard. Once this is done, you should have a nice rectangle with a few cuts in it.

Step 3: Grab your pen tool, and make a straight line downward along side your nice rectangle thing. right click < stroke path < pencil. Make sure pencil is set to 1 point. Do this on a new layer.

Step 4: (optional) Duplicate your layer, and move it over a little so you have 2 adjacent lines.

Step 5: Now you've got your basis. Grab your selection tool, and make a nice big rectangle somewhere, and fill it with black. (on a new layer of course). Go to select < modify < contract and put in 1 pixels. Press delete. Now make a new layer and (without deslecting) fill the selection with diagonal lines. If you dont know how to do this, make a new layer size 3x3 and transparent background. zoom in and with your pencil tool on one, fill in a diagonal line across the layer. Define pattern. Now play with the opacity until you get something you like. Merge the layer with the bottom (control M) and then move it to where it looks nice and fits.

Step 6: Grab your pen tool again, and make a few lines comming off the tech. Make them straight.

Make a stuff like that comming off, all going not too far out.

Step 7: Grab your rectangular marqueer again, and make perfect little boxes on a new layer. Fill black. Move them on those lines you just made. (on the Ends usually)

Step 8: Repeat until you get something you like.

There you have it! Tech in 8 moderatly simple steps!

Simple shapes make simple tech.

(Note: there ARE easier ways, but i really suggest that you try it this way. You'll learn to use the pen tool faster, and its one of the most powerful tools in photoshop.)
