Learn some basic tips and tricks of Adobe Photoshop

Usefull Shortcuts
  • Ctrl + N - new document
  • Ctrl + C - Copy
  • Ctrl + X - Cut
  • Ctrl + V - Paste
  • Ctrl + Z - Undo
  • Ctrl + Alt + Z - step backwards
  • Ctrl + U - Hue / Saturation (change layer's color)
  • Ctrl + A - Select All
  • Ctrl + B - Color Balance
  • Ctrl + T - Transform ( a must to learn if your resizing images alot)
  • Ctrl + I - Invert
  • Ctrl + F - Redo last filter

There are move shortcuts but these are the usefull ones.


More Tips:

Holding alt while making a marquee will make it from the center of where the mouse is pointing.



Holding Ctrl while doing marquee will either make a perfect circle or a perfect square.



Holding Shift while making a line will make a perfect diagonal or straight line



Holding Alt + Ctrl + UP with you desired layer selected will copy the layer and move up 1 px automatically until you let go for a effect like.


Stroke Looking choppy? Use Outer Glow,Black,Normal,100 Opacity



Doing a simple tutorial to "generate" a cool background but Is long or your to lazy to do it again? Before step 1 go to actions right beside history put it on record. This will record down all the steps you took and when your done with the tut Hit stop. There ya go that long tutorial can now be done with a single click O.O

Swatches are your best friend. If your doing Illustration just use the swatches and make sure everything as a diffrent color for easy refrence and do Color overlay later.(This is my opinion)



Doing pixel art? Make mesurements with red lines and do the outlines in black. Later on you can erase the red, fill the spaces with basic color (like if you have a red cube and see three sides you would use 3 diffrent reds for each side depending on the light direction), and add the detail,shadows,and highlights afterwards.

Can't draw? Don't use raw mouse power. Use the godly... PENTOOL WITH THE MOUSE.



Pen Tool Tricks
Pressing the following Keys and clicking on a point will help you use the pen tool better when using the convert point tool.

ALT + clicking on an anchor point will move 1 side of the anchor. Good for getting tight angles
Control + clicking on an anchor point allows you to move the point around.
